Dental sealants are applied to occlude, (close up), the grooves and pits located on the biting surface of the teeth. The grooves and pits are so narrow and deep that it’s virtually impossible to effectively clean them out. When sealants are placed to occlude these areas, it will eliminate the risk of decay on the biting surface of your teeth.
